FAQ
Frequently Asked Question
Get answers to common questions about solar installation, costs, maintenance, and benefits. Our comprehensive guide helps you make informed decisions about your solar journey.
What are the financial benefits of solar energy?
Slash your electricity bills! Solarday’s customized solar systems reduce your reliance on the grid, potentially leading to up to 90% reduction in your monthly electricity costs. Plus, government incentives & rebates help offset installation expenses. Invest in solar & enjoy long-term savings with clean, reliable energy.
What are the environmental benefits of solar energy?
Go green with solar! Solarday’s solar systems help you go eco-friendly. They generate clean power, reducing greenhouse gas emissions & air pollution compared to traditional energy sources. By choosing solar, you contribute to a cleaner environment and a more sustainable future for India.
What is Net Energy Metering?
Offset your energy use with net metering! In India, net metering allows you to earn credits for excess solar energy fed back to the grid. Essentially, you only pay for the net difference between the energy your solar system generates & the energy you consume from the grid. Regulations may vary from state to state in India based on the regulations. Solarday helps you navigate through the complexities.
What is Gross Energy Metering?
Sell your solar power with gross metering! In India, gross metering applies to larger solar installations (typically exceeding 10 kW). Under this system, you receive a fixed feed-in tariff for all the electricity your solar panels generate & export to the grid. However, you’ll still purchase electricity from the grid at the retail rate.
How much electricity can a 1 kW solar system generate?
A 1 kW solar system in India typically generates around 4 units of electricity daily, translating to approximately 120 units per month & roughly 1,440 units annually. Keep in mind that these estimates are based on ideal conditions, & actual power production may vary depending on factors like location, sunlight hours, & system efficiency.
Will I still receive an electric bill if I have solar panels?
Yes, even with solar panels, you will still receive an electricity bill. However, the amount can significantly decrease. Here’s why:
Solar Offset: If your household’s daytime electricity demand is lower than what your solar panels produce, you can offset your bills. Efficient solar hardware & net metering help achieve this balance.
Utility Fees: Mandatory utility fees persist regardless of solar panels. Staying connected to the grid ensures reliability, especially during cloudy days & nights when solar production is limited.
Lower Bills: By reducing energy usage, enrolling in net metering, & investing in battery storage, you’ll pay less with solar panels than without them.
Remember, going completely off-grid is expensive. It is recommended that solar along with storage is designed to empower you to save while staying connected to reliable electricity.

What are my solar financing options in India?
In India, you’ll primarily have three options for financing your solar panel system:
1. Solar Loans: This involves taking out a loan from a bank or financial institution to cover the upfront cost of the system. You’ll then repay the loan with interest over a set period.
2. Solar Leasing: Here, you don’t own the solar panels. Instead, a solar company installs & maintains the system for you, & you pay them a monthly lease fee for the solar system installed.
3. Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs): Similar to leasing, with PPAs, a third-party company owns and maintains the solar system on your property. You purchase the electricity the system generates at a pre-determined rate under a long-term contract.
